Together We Go

At ten years of age, I was filled with excitement and curiosity, as my family sensed God leading us to take a step of faith into the new and unknown. That expressed itself as a signing up for Discipleship Training School with YWAM.

I had never met anyone from a different country before YWAM, so I was thrilled to interact with people from all over the world who came for DTS. I found myself particularly drawn by their accents and stories of their home countries.

Who is God to You?

Kids tend to see the World in an untainted, innocent, and imaginative way, something we as adults can easily lose out on. No wonder why Jesus said, “Let the children come to me”. Down below are interview questions we recently asked a group of kids running around our YWAM base.

Is My English Good Enough?

In February 2016, I applied to do a Discipleship Training School here in Wollongong, Australia. English is not my first language but I grew up learning it in school. Some years ago I did short-term outreaches where the main language was English, but I never lived for six months in an English environment and I had never had a lecture in English. Even the word ‘lecture’ sounded weird, unfamiliar and complicated.

Why Isn’t Prayer Enough?

I am so grateful for my life rooted in Christian community, as a young child and into adulthood where I’m now raising my own children. I have found so much room to grow and find myself in God’s story of life and healing in the world. I’ve also realised there can be a quiet stigma in faith communities around mental health; it can hinder those who are suffering from finding the care that they need. Continue reading

Let the Little Children Come to Me

Before I moved to Australia, God spoke to me very clearly about serving YWAM Wollongong in a very practical way. I already had the skills, knowledge and drive to get a children’s ministry up and running. Ultimately I was just being faithful to the calling I felt on my life, but still, that was the easy part. Where is God in Suffering?

Not long ago I stopped in at a little shop down the street, and the owner opened up to me when I asked how he was doing. I knew that two of his family members had died recently from a terrible disease. His heart was broken. He told me that if God Continue reading

Engaging with Youth

In 2015, we hosted an event in Sydney for local churches called GoFest. Two of the many churches involved were greatly impacted, and in June of 2016 they approached us as YWAM Wollongong. They had the vision to host an event like GoFest held in Wollongong towards the end of 2016.

Growing up in Missions

When I was ten years old I decided I wanted to go to the Middle East. Some missionary friends of ours were sharing at church, and sometime between donning a head scarf for a demonstration and the end of the service I told them that maybe we would be out there together one day. Continue reading

Where He Calls You

Home.

God has done an amazing thing in my life by bringing me to this place. I was a home body, city girl who wanted all of her college friends to live on the same street and grow old together. Now I live on the other side of the world with no one I knew 6 years ago.  Continue reading

Creating Kingdom Family

When Steph and I got married we were both aware that the other was interested in having a family. When the time was right we would have two or three kids; settle down and live the typical Australian life. However, about five years in, we discovered that we could not physically have a family of our own.
