God Cares About the Individual

Intercession is a time that we as a base come together with a topic, usually a people group that has little or no opportunity to hear about Jesus. We spend time seeking God and praying out the things He puts on our hearts for them. It looks different every time.

Together We Go

At ten years of age, I was filled with excitement and curiosity, as my family sensed God leading us to take a step of faith into the new and unknown. That expressed itself as a signing up for Discipleship Training School with YWAM.

I had never met anyone from a different country before YWAM, so I was thrilled to interact with people from all over the world who came for DTS. I found myself particularly drawn by their accents and stories of their home countries.

Hearing the Name of Jesus for the Very First Time

I grew up in London; a city with a Church on every corner. At Christmas, schools in the area would rehearse and present the nativity story and at Easter, everyone knew it was about more than just chocolate, even if you didn’t believe. No matter where you went, anyone could tell you who the Christians were and provide a brief explanation of what they believed — always mentioning the name of “Jesus”.

Who is God to You?

Kids tend to see the World in an untainted, innocent, and imaginative way, something we as adults can easily lose out on. No wonder why Jesus said, “Let the children come to me”. Down below are interview questions we recently asked a group of kids running around our YWAM base.

Is My English Good Enough?

Is My English Good Enough?

In February 2016, I applied to do a Discipleship Training School here in Wollongong, Australia. English is not my first language but I grew up learning it in school. Some years ago I did short-term outreaches where the main language was English, but I never lived for six months in an English environment and I had never had a lecture in English. Even the word ‘lecture’ sounded weird, unfamiliar and complicated.

Why Isn’t Prayer Enough?

I am so grateful for my life rooted in Christian community, as a young child and into adulthood where I’m now raising my own children. I have found so much room to grow and find myself in God’s story of life and healing in the world. I’ve also realised there can be a quiet stigma in faith communities around mental health; it can hinder those who are suffering from finding the care that they need. Continue reading

God Is There and Everywhere

During my latest trip to Indonesia, I was privileged to form many wonderful relationships. The people of Indonesia are so friendly, hospitable, and generous. My way of thinking and seeing has shifted through each personal experience of getting to know individuals for who they truly are, and not the countries they come from. I realize that in the world we live in it is so easy to build up walls and have preconceived ideas about others.

Your Glory

As I sit upon this rock
And gaze upon your glory
In awe of who you are
You created all of this

He’s sweet I Know

A few years ago on one of my bus rides to and from work, I found myself listening to podcasts. Despite the sometimes maddening and mundane routine, that combination of earbuds and spare time made out to be quite the precious duo. Little did I know that one of those podcasts would cycle back around in my life multiple times and serve as a reminder of a faith fundamental.
