My Dad and I were sitting at Lake Thun in Switzerland. It was towards the end of my home visit and I wanted to spend some time with my dad sharing my dreams and visions. My Wife and I had not fully decided if we were going to run a media focused Discipleship Training School (DTS).
After I had shared all that God had been speaking to us, my Dad wanted to pray with me. In his payer he mentioned a passage from 1 Samuel 3. This is the chapter where God calls out to Samuel. The part that caught my attention is found in verse 1. “In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.” Personal communication with God and divine revelation was so uncommon in those days that it took Samuel a while to realise that it was God speaking to him.
Hundreds of heart-breaking stories hit the news every day. In all this noise, where do we find biblical truth? How can people hear the word of God?
In this moment I couldn’t stop thinking about the world we live in. We’re part of a generation where we can communicate with anyone, anywhere. Everyone shares their opinion through different channels trying to get peoples attention. Hundreds of heart-breaking stories hit the news every day. In all this noise, where do we find biblical truth? How can people hear the word of God?
It was then that I knew God who was speaking to us about running a Media DTS. He was calling us to create an atmosphere where people could come together, hear from Him, and be equipped to use their creative passions and skills to share the love and truth of Jesus throughout the nations.
