The Commitment
Life on Staff
YWAM is a volunteer organisation. Our staff are not hired employees — they are men and women, who have felt called to live a life of missions, and have chosen to partner with YWAM Wollongong, sustained by the generosity of the community around them.
Staff at YWAM Wollongong serve in a variety of roles: leading schools, mentoring students, managing operations, community outreach, and much more. Whatever your background and gifts, there is a meaningful place for you.
Staff life is communal, intentional, and deeply rewarding. You will live closely with others, grow in leadership, and contribute to something that outlasts any single season.
Who Can Apply?
- ✓Completed a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS)
- ✓Active personal faith in Jesus Christ
- ✓Clear sense of call or interest in long-term mission service
- ✓Willingness to live in community and serve others
- ✓Commitment to raise personal financial support
- ✓Willingness to commit to a minimum two-year term on staff
The Process
How to Join
Complete a DTS
To join YWAM staff, you must first complete a Discipleship Training School. The DTS is the gateway into YWAM — it is where your foundation is laid and your calling begins to take shape.
Hear the Call
Staff is a full time voluntary commitment. Not sure what your next step is after DTS, or maybe you are looking for continued discipleship in the things God has placed on your heart during DTS? Take time to pray and seek counsel.
Apply
Get in touch with the YWAM Wollongong office to express your interest in joining staff. We'll arrange a conversation to hear your story, share about what's happening on base, and explore whether there's a good fit.
Raise Your Support
Like all YWAM staff worldwide, you will need to raise personal financial support from a community of friends, family, and churches who partner with your ministry. We will walk alongside you in this process.
Join the Family
Once your support is established and the base has confirmed your role, you'll join the YWAM Wollongong community as a staff member — contributing your gifts to training, operations, ministry, and base life.
